The way we produce and consume energy globally is being transformed

  • Renewable generation capacity additions continue to exceed those from conventional plants year on year this means electricity generation will become more variable

  • Transport will be electrified. As battery prices fall, the number of EVs will increase rapidly so the electricity grid will soon have to support transport and pre-existing electricity demand

  • Achieving net zero requires heat to be de-carbonised. Peak heating demand is 3 times that of electricity in the UK. Electrification of heat will put further strain on the electricity grid

Logistics operations will have to respond to these changes
